Read: I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27

Examine: Zedekiah was the last king before the final conquest of the Babylonians over Judah, and the final conquest began in his tenth year. Jeremiah wrote this even as Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem. It was an almost unbelievably stressful crisis for the whole city.

As the Babylonians lay siege to Jerusalem during King Zedekiah’s reign, Jeremiah finds himself imprisoned in the court of the guard. In a surprising turn of events, Jeremiah’s cousin Hanamel offers him a field in Anathoth, fulfilling a prophecy Jeremiah had received from God. Despite the city’s impending doom, Jeremiah purchases the land as an act of faith in God’s promise of restoration.

Jeremiah prays to God, acknowledging His sovereignty, power, and the justice of the impending destruction due to Israel’s sins. Despite his faith, he expresses confusion about the command to purchase land amidst the chaos.

When Jeremiah asked to the Lord “The Babylonians have built siege mounds around the city to capture it, and they are attacking. War, starvation, and disease will make the city fall into their hands. You can see that all you have said has come true. Yet, Sovereign LORD, you are the one who ordered me to buy the field in the presence of witnesses, even though the city is about to be captured by the Babylonians.”

Then the LORD said to me, “I am the LORD, the God of all people. Nothing is too difficult for me

Application: Despite the imminent destruction, Jeremiah’s purchase of the field becomes a beacon of hope, a tangible manifestation of his faith in God’s promise of restoration. Jeremiah 32 serves as a testament to unwavering faith amidst uncertainty and a reaffirmation of God’s relentless commitment to redemption and restoration.

In response to Jeremiah’s prayer, the statement of comfort should be our strength – Then the LORD said to me, “I am the LORD, the God of all people. Nothing is too difficult for me

God reaffirms promises future restoration. Israel and Judah will once again be prosperous, fields will be bought and sold, and a renewed covenant will be established.

Decision:

1. When the deed was purchased, help me to pray like Jeremiah. After I had given the deed of purchase to Baruch, I prayed, “Sovereign LORD, you made the earth and the sky by your great power and might; nothing is too difficult for you. You are a great and powerful God; you are the LORD Almighty. You make wise plans and do mighty things; you see everything that people do, and you reward them according to their actions.
2. Help me to hear from you the sweet voice, trust and find strength – saying – “I am the LORD, the God of all people. Nothing is too difficult for me

Read: Numbers 11:23 The LORD said to Moses, “Is the LORD’S power limited? Now you shall see whether My word will come true for you or not.”

Examine: Israel on the journey to Canaan, there were foreigners traveling with the Israelites. They had a strong craving for meat, and even the Israelites themselves began to complain: “If only we could have some meat! In Egypt, we used to eat all the fish we wanted, and it cost us nothing. Remember the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic we had?  But now our strength is gone. There is nothing at all to eat—nothing but this manna day after day!”

Now tell the people, ‘Purify yourselves for tomorrow; you will have meat to eat. The LORD has heard you whining and saying that you wished you had some meat and that you were better off in Egypt. Now the LORD will give you meat, and you will have to eat it. You will have to eat it not just for one or two days, or five, or ten, or even twenty days, but for a whole month, until it comes out of your ears, until you are sick of it. This will happen because you have rejected the LORD who is here among you and have complained to him that you should never have left Egypt.’”

Moses said to the LORD, “Here I am leading 600,000 people, and you say that you will give them enough meat for a month? Could enough cattle and sheep be killed to satisfy them? Are all the fish in the sea enough for them?” “Is there a limit to my power?” the LORD answered. “You will soon see whether what I have said will happen or not!”

Application: Lord led them and Lord provided food for His people, but see how the craving of foreigners became the craving of Israelities. We need to be vey careful on who is in our influencing circle.

People became very bitter, angry and complaining, how a small craving went out of control. Great warning what we desire outside God will can lead us to great folly.

Moses asking the Lord how is it even possible to fed these many people in wilderness with meat for 1 month, the question Lord asked “Is there a limit to my power?”

Decision: Lord let me always look at you way and trust you provisions, let me never be influences by the desires and craving of people of the world. Lord whatever situation let me or my family ever complain. Lord let not desires of the world entangle us and make us complain.

Father Lord what we go through, we see no way out, I really want to hear the sweet voice of the Lord – “Is there a limit to my power?” – And dwell and draw strength from it.

Read:  “Have you understood all these things?” They *said to Him, “Yes.”  Mat 13:51

Examine: Jesus taught using parables, Matthew 13 contains a series of seven parables, all of which focus on the theme of the kingdom of God, and all of which are designed to teach us about unexpected aspects of the kingdom.

Jesus first describes these to a large crowd along the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Later, in a house, He explains to the disciples the meanings of the parables of the sower, the weeds, and the fish caught in the net.

 “Also, the Kingdom of heaven is like this. Some fishermen throw their net out in the lake and catch all kinds of fish.  When the net is full, they pull it to shore and sit down to divide the fish: the good ones go into the buckets, the worthless ones are thrown away.  It will be like this at the end of the age: the angels will go out and gather up the evil people from among the good and will throw them into the fiery furnace, where they will cry and gnash their teeth.

“Do you understand these things?” Jesus asked them. “Yes,” they answered.

So he replied, “This means, then, that every teacher of the Law who becomes a disciple in the Kingdom of heaven is like a homeowner who takes new and old things out of his storage room.”

Application: Jesus said to them, “Have you understood all these things?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”

They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” We wonder if the disciples really did understand Jesus here. However, Jesus did not deny their claim to understand.

The main idea is that the disciples – who had just claimed to understand what Jesus taught – are now responsible to bring forth their understanding to others, as if they were distributing from the storehouse of their wisdom and understanding. This storehouse contains things new and old.

“A small degree of knowledge is not sufficient for a preacher of the Gospel. The sacred writings should be his treasure, and he should properly understand them… his knowledge consists in being well instructed in the things concerning the kingdom of heaven, and the art of conducting men thither.” (Clarke)

Decision: Lord help me to be a carefully practicing and diligent student of the word of God. Let me never be shallow in gospel but men mighty in the Scriptures, well acquainted with the writings of the Old and New Testament, and the sense of them; men that have a stock of spiritual knowledge, able readily to speak a word to the weary, and to speak to people particular cases and questions.”

Examine:  Some people brought children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and to pray for them, but the disciples scolded the people. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.”

 He placed his hands on them and then went away.

Once a man came to Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what good thing must I do to receive eternal life?” “Why do you ask me concerning what is good?” answered Jesus. “There is only One who is good. Keep the commandments if you want to enter life.” “What commandments?” he asked.

Jesus answered, “Do not commit murder; do not commit adultery; do not steal; do not accuse anyone falsely; respect your father and your mother; and love your neighbor as you love yourself.” “I have obeyed all these commandments,” the young man replied. “What else do I need to do?”

Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven; then come and follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he was very rich.

Jesus then said to his disciples, “I assure you: it will be very hard for rich people to enter the Kingdom of heaven. I repeat: it is much harder for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.”

When the disciples heard this, they were completely amazed. “Who, then, can be saved?” they asked. Jesus looked straight at them and answered, “This is impossible for human beings, but for God everything is possible.” Then Peter spoke up. “Look,” he said, “we have left everything and followed you. What will we have?”

Application: The question Jesus asked – “Why do you ask me concerning what is good?” – Jesus taught keeping commandment is critical as God alone is good. We have no one to model, it is only Jesus who we need to follow. Following section when rich man had to walk away as Jesus asked him to sell everything.

Decision: Lord Jesus, let me follow only you alone, always model the life of Jesus. Let me absolutely obey even if it is painful. Lord like disciples asked, even I am thinking how can someone be saved and live a sanctified life, Lord I trust in your answer – “This is impossible for human beings, but for God everything is possible.”

Read: “When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” (Mark 8:19) “And you still don’t understand?” he asked them. Mark 8:21

Examine: Once during the ministry of Jesus, the disciples had forgotten to bring enough bread and had only one loaf with them in the boat. “Take care,” Jesus warned them, “and be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.” They started discussing among themselves: “He says this because we don’t have any bread.”

Jesus knew what they were saying, so he asked them, “Why are you discussing about not having any bread? Don’t you know or understand yet? Are your minds so dull? You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear? Don’t you remember when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand people? How many baskets full of leftover pieces did you take up?”

“Twelve,” they answered. “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand people,” asked Jesus, “how many baskets full of leftover pieces did you take up?” “Seven,” they answered.

“And you still don’t understand?” he asked them.

Application: Jesus has performed an astounding miracle. Have the disciples fully noticed? Have they taken stock? Have you taken stock of the miracles done in your life? When trouble or lack comes in our life Jesus is expecting us to meditate on what the Lord has done in the past. Miracles of old should lead us to trust in the current troubled times.

It was the expectation of the Lord that the disciples had faith and understanding from the miracles that Jesus had done in their life. Miracles of past should lead to faith and calmness for the present and confidence for the future.

Decision: Lord Jesus, I pray that I will have heavenly wisdom, to see thing in the way Lord is expecting me to. Teach us the way of the Lord. The question Jesus asked you still do not understand?  how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up? How easily I forget the provision and protection of the Lord in the past. Oh, that I may draw strength from the works of the Lord that I have seen in the past. And trust in the Lord even today.
