Verse: Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea Psalm 46:2

Story: Dathan and Abiram along with the company of Korah contended against Moses and Aaron and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died when the fire devoured 250 men. But the Bible says  “But the sons of Korah did not die.” Num 26:11. They did not follow the rebellion along with their father but followed the Lord and kept the Lord’s ways.

Destiny: They ended up writing eleven beautiful Psalms. After seven generations, the prophet Samuel was from the Korah genealogy. The Korahites became doorkeepers and custodians for the Tabernacle. One group of Korahites joined King David in various military exploits and won the reputation of being expert warriors

Lesson: How can we say, we will not fear? Learn to trust and say we will not fear, even if earth gives way; remember when the earth opened Korah sons did not fear Ps 46:2, When you do not know what is happening, they learned to “Be still, and know that I am God” Ps 46:10. Lord can make you a testimony when you see no hope. Future is in the hands of the Lord not depend on our situations.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans 15:4

Prayer: Lord, give the lifestyle of Korah sons, how their beautiful psalms expressed a spirit of great gratitude and humility to an awesome, mighty God. They express a longing for God and deep devotion. Let that be our expression in all situations. Amen.

Verse: Jehoiada then made a covenant that he, the people and the king would be the Lord’s people. 2 Chro 23:16

Background:: Meditate on the second chronicles chapter 23 verse 16 it says, Jehoiada then made a covenant that he the people and the king would be the Lord’s people. Jehoiada was a priest who was a high priest, who served under many kings of Judah. The kings were led in the way of the Lord. He made a covenant that the people, he himself, and the king would be God’s people. They will obey the word of God. They will live according to the word of God and during his time a lot of reforms happened.

Thought: A quick thought, today can we tell, We are the Jehoiada of my family, my community, my workplace? Can we be that person who says, I will live holy? I will be blameless. I make a covenant that I will always walk according to the word of God and I will make sure the people around me will walk according to the word of God and if we make decisions like that, God made this particular high priest so influential that he even counseled the Kings. 

Decision: God’s looking for people who will make decisions like that, can we today say to the Lord, I wanted to be a Jehoiada of this generation rather than blaming other people? Can we make a covenant? God, I myself will be your child. I will make sure that my children and my family will walk according to the word of God and whoever I get a chance to influence. I’ll make sure that I’ll pray and lead them, that they will also keep the covenant of the Lord.

Application: This Day, let’s examine our lives to see if we have made a covenant unto the Lord when we accept Jesus as our personal savior. If it is true that we became the children of God, the first desire that comes into our hearts. God, I want to make a covenant with you that I will live for you. I will live according to your word and I’ll make sure that people around me, they’ll walk according to your word. The grace that saved us is transforming. That we will make a covenant that we will walk blamelessly. God bless you.

Verse: When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. Neh 1:4

Background: Israel was in captivity for 70 years under the Babylonians. The promise of Jeremiah that captivity would be over in 70 years was fulfilled when the Medo-Persian Empire defeated the Babylonians and King Cyrus let the Israelites go back to the promised land free. King Cyrus also provided the resources for the completion of the temple.

Problem: After a lot of ups and downs, the Israelites completed the building of the temple. But the remnant there in the province who had survived the exile was in great trouble and shame because the wall of Jerusalem was broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.” Nehemiah who was still serving in the Persian palace heard it. 

What makes you weep? Are we bothered about God’s people being vulnerable, do we weep and cry for their redemption?

Response: His response was not to blame anyone on why they did not start building it. He did not start a pity party. He knew the temple inside and the people inside needed to be kept safe by the wall. Our walls are prayer life, the study of the word, and being in the presence of the Lord. We are walking around exposing ourselves when we do not have our walls in place and then do our day-to-day activities.

We know, that Nehemiah wept, sat down, fasted, and prayed, a great rebuilding story started when one man reacted in the right way. We run to the Lord when we are in trouble, but let us change that and run to the Lord for our walls to be set right.

Verse: In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

Background: Psalm 4 is inspired by the same circumstances as Psalm 3. David’s rebellious son, Absalom, has forced David to flee for his life (2 Samuel 15:13–14).

David begins by praying for grace. He scolds those who oppose him, since they have followed the manipulation of Absalom (2 Samuel 15:6). Even as David recognizes their betrayal, he expresses confidence that God has called him. This is both reassurance to David, and a warning to his enemies (Psalm 4:1–3).

Thought: Now we might be going through a tough situation. We might not be sure, how to face tomorrow. 

1. Honest Prayer: Let us pray like the Psalmist “Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer” Psalm 4:1. 
2. Confidence In the Lord: What is the assurance that our Lord will answer? We are going around on the axis at 1000 miles per hour and going around the sun at 67000 miles per hour and the Lord sustains us completely still, then why not be still for our Lord is in control?
3. Knowledge Of His Call: Everything in the world belongs to God, but the Lord has set His people apart, and when we call on the Lord, He will answer. The word says “Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him” Psalm 4:3
4. Guard yourself: When we are tense, let us be careful what we pray, especially when we go to bed with a heavy heart “When you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.” Psalm 4:4. Let us not grumble, let us not question, but let us make our request “Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God”. Psalm 4:1 Let us “Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD” Psalm 4:5

Prayer: Dear Lord, 2 Chro 20:12 “For we have no power to face this …. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” Amen.         

Verse: But the LORD God called to the man Gen 3:9

Thought: When the first man fell for the first time, what did the Lord do? The above verse says Lord called man. Today also our Lord is doing the same thing. He calls out to us and asks three questions Where? Who? What?

1. Where: Gen 3:9b “Where are you?” Lord created man to have fellowship with God. Today has the sin in our life separated us from God? Lord is calling my dear where are you? Adam replied “He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”  Gen 3:10
2. Who: Gen 3:11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” Lord is asking who told you, if we are convicted let us confess, do not condemn yourself. Who is telling you that your life is beyond repair? Come to Jesus.
3. What: Gen 3:13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”  Lord is asking us what we have done. Lord is asking us to examine our actions and thoughts and change the ways from what and way we have lived till now.

Lesson: What does it mean to the Lord when we fall? Not just to Adam, but to the whole of mankind loving Father reached out through His only begotten son Jesus. Jesus died for us, how can we ignore such a great love?
